Wiki

Every feature of Vienne, explained. Search below or pick a section.

Getting started

Vienne is a raw trading journal: you log each trading day by hand, and the app turns those entries into statistics, charts and AI feedback. Nothing is imported from a broker automatically — what you write is the single source of truth.

  1. Create an account — register with an email and password. Each device can be linked to one account; the same Vienne account can be used on multiple devices and syncs through the server.
  2. Activate a license — paste the key an administrator gave you in Profile → License. The countdown starts only at activation, so an unused key never expires.
  3. Add a trading account — in Accounts, create your prop-firm or live account with its starting balance.
  4. Log your first day — press 1 or use Log Trade, fill in PnL, number of trades and your reasoning.
  5. Review — open Dashboard for the numbers and AI Analysis for behavioral feedback.
One entry = one trading day per account, not one individual trade. That keeps the journal focused on behavior and discipline instead of tick-by-tick noise.

Home

The landing screen after login. It greets you with today's date and gives a quick read on where you stand.

  • KPI cards — the headline numbers of your journal at a glance.
  • Quick actions — jump straight to Log a trade, Dashboard or AI Analysis.
  • Community — a link to the Vienne Discord for setups, prop-firm talk and journal reviews.

Log Trade

The form where a trading day is recorded. Everything except the marked optional fields is required, on purpose — the value of the journal comes from the written reflection, not the numbers alone.

Account selection

Tap one or more account chips at the top. Selecting several accounts writes the same entry to each of them — useful when you trade identical setups across multiple funded accounts. When editing an existing entry, only one account can be selected.

Trade day

FieldMeaning
DateThe trading day being logged. Defaults to today.
Daily PnL ($)Net result of the day. Negative for a loss.
Trades takenHow many trades you executed that day. Feeds the overtrading checks.
Symbol optionalInstrument traded, e.g. NQ, ES, GC.
Winning / Losing trades optionalSplits the day into wins and losses so win rate can be calculated precisely.
Session optionalNY Open, NY PM, London or Asia. Used by session filters in AI Analysis.
DirectionLong, Short or Mixed.

Mindset

  • Why did you take these trades? (up to 600 characters) — the setup and what you actually saw on the chart.
  • Mistakes (400) — what went wrong: early entry, moved stop, revenge trade.
  • What to improve (400) — the one thing you will do differently tomorrow.
  • Emotions — tag how you felt. These tags are what the AI clusters to find your behavioral patterns.
  • Trade rating — 1 to 5 stars for execution quality, not profit. A losing day followed perfectly can still be 5 stars.

Screenshots

Drag and drop chart images onto the dropzone or click to browse. Up to six screenshots per entry are kept, and each one is resized to fit 1280px and re-encoded as JPEG before it is saved, so a 4 MB PNG usually lands well under 200 KB. A counter under the strip shows how much the current entry weighs. Duplicates of an image you already attached are skipped. Screenshots show up in the Journal gallery and in the entry viewer's lightbox. Screenshots are kept in your account rather than inside the journal itself, so they never fill up your browser storage, and they load as you scroll instead of all at once.

Journal

Every entry you have ever written, in two layouts.

  • Table — dense rows with date, account, PnL, trades and rating. Click a column header to flip its sort order.
  • Gallery — screenshot-first cards, best for visually reviewing your setups.
  • Sorting — Newest first, Oldest first, Best PnL, Worst PnL.
  • Account filter — narrow to a single trading account.
  • Search — full-text across setups, mistakes and symbols.

Click any entry to open it: full notes, emotion tags, rating and screenshots, with Edit and Delete actions. Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.

Dashboard

The analytical view of your journal, filterable by account. Formerly called Statistics.

MetricHow it is calculated
Net PnLSum of the daily PnL of every entry in scope.
Win rateWinning days (or winning trades, when you fill in the win/loss split) as a share of the total.
Profit factorGross profit divided by gross loss. Above 1.0 means the system is net positive.
ExpectancyAverage result you can expect per trading day.
Average win / lossMean size of a green day versus a red day — your real risk-to-reward.
Execution scoreDerived from your own star ratings: discipline independent of profit.
Best / worst dayThe extremes of the period, so outliers are visible.

Charts

  • Equity curve — cumulative balance over time, with a tooltip on hover.
  • Win-rate donut — wins against losses in one glance.
  • Calendar heatmap — every day of the month coloured by result. Instantly shows streaks and revenge-trading clusters.

The AI Analysis button in the toolbar carries your current account filter over to the AI view.

Accounts

Manage the trading accounts your entries are logged against — prop-firm challenges, funded accounts or a personal live account.

  • Create an account with a name, starting balance and colour.
  • Stage — track its lifecycle from Evaluation through to Funded.
  • Per-account stats — current balance, PnL and progress on each card.
  • Favourites — pin accounts to the bottom of the sidebar for one-click filtering. Each favourite gets its own colour dot.
  • Edit / delete — renaming is safe; deleting an account also removes the entries attached to it, so you are asked to confirm.

Expenses & Payouts

Trading has costs that never show up in PnL. This view tracks them so you know your real net result.

  • Costs — challenge fees, resets, data feeds, platform and tool subscriptions.
  • Payouts — money actually withdrawn from a funded account.
  • Summary cards — total spent, total received and the net difference.
  • Filter — All, Costs or Payouts via the segmented control.
  • Each record carries a date, type, linked account, note and amount, and can be edited or deleted from the table.

AI Analysis

Sends a summary of your journal to an AI provider of your choice and returns a behavioral report — patterns, leaks and concrete corrections. Requires an active license and an API key.

Filters

  • Account — one account or all of them.
  • Date range — Today, Yesterday, Last 7 / 30 days, This month, Last month, All time.
  • Direction — All, Long, Short, Mixed.
  • Market — All, Forex, Crypto, Indices, Stocks.
  • Session — All, London, New York, Asia.

Providers

Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), DeepSeek, Grok (xAI) and Groq (Llama) are supported. Each provider stores its own key and model, so you can switch between them freely without re-entering anything. Configure them in Settings → AI Provider.

Your API key is stored in your browser only and is sent directly from your browser to the provider you selected. It never passes through, and is never stored on, Vienne's servers.

Import & Export

Found in Settings → Data. Your journal is yours and can leave the app at any time.

  • Where screenshots live — images are stored in your account as files, separately from the journal text. That keeps autosaves small, leaves your browser storage free, and means deleting an entry frees its images too. Signed out, screenshots stay on the device until you sign in again.
  • Export — a full backup of every account, entry, expense and setting. If your journal contains screenshots you get a .zip with journal.json plus a photos/ folder holding the images as real files; with no screenshots it is a single .json. The zip form is several times smaller than embedding the images as text.
  • AI Convert — generates a ready-made prompt. Paste it into any AI together with your raw data (a broker statement, a spreadsheet, an old journal) and it returns JSON in Vienne's format.
  • Import — accepts a Vienne backup (.zip or .json), a converted JSON file, or a .zip containing screenshots. Screenshots stored next to the JSON are matched back to their entries automatically. Nothing is written until you review the preview and confirm.

Imported days are grouped exactly like manual entries — one row per day per account — so statistics stay consistent with hand-written history.

Profile & License

  • Display name — the name shown in the interface.
  • Username (@) — your unique handle. It can only be changed once every 30 days.
  • Email — read-only, it identifies your account.
  • License — paste a key in the format AIJ-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and press Activate. The card shows your current plan and expiry date.
  • Session — log out of this device.

Without an active license the app keeps working for journaling, but AI Analysis is locked and shows a prompt to activate a key.

Each device can be linked to one Vienne account, while the same account can be used on multiple devices. Journal changes sync through your Vienne account; support can reset a device link if a browser/device gets stuck.

Settings

Appearance

  • Theme — Dark or Light.
  • Accent colour — six presets or any custom colour. It drives buttons, charts, the logo and even the browser tab icon.
  • Corner radius (50-150%) — the roundness of every surface in the app at once.
  • Glass intensity — blur strength of translucent surfaces.
  • Shadow intensity — depth of elevation shadows.
  • UI scale (90-115%) — zoom the whole interface.
  • Reset appearance — back to defaults.

Background effects

An animated field behind the interface, with three styles: Color flow, Liquid chrome and Prismatic burst. Intensity, speed and blur are adjustable; it can borrow your accent colour, pause when idle to save battery, and run in a reduced GPU mode on weaker machines.

Interface

  • Animations and Reduced motion — full motion, or the calm minimum.
  • Transparency — turn glass and blur off entirely.
  • Compact mode — tighter padding, more content per screen.
  • Sidebar mode — pinned open, or floating and expanding on hover; width adjustable from 200 to 280 px.
  • Font family — Geist, Inter Tight or your system UI font.
  • Performance mode — disables the expensive effects in one switch.
  • High contrast — stronger borders and text.
  • Sound effects — subtle audio feedback on actions.

Advanced

  • Developer mode — shows a build tag next to the logo and a debug export.
  • Experimental features — cursor-reactive ambient glow in the content area.

Danger zone

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, journal, accounts and expenses. It is password-confirmed and cannot be undone.

Updates

The bell in the top-right corner is the changelog. A dot appears when something you have not read is published. Entries are categorised (new feature, improvement, fix) and can include an image and a full write-up; opening one marks it as read.

Number keys are ignored while you are typing in a field, so they never interfere with the log form. The command palette searches every view and action — it is the fastest way to move around.

Data & privacy

  • Your journal is saved locally in the browser and synced to your account on the server, so it follows you between sessions.
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in readable form.
  • AI API keys stay in your browser and go straight to the provider you chose.
  • Vienne has no broker connections and no copy-trading — nothing is ever read from or sent to a broker.
  • You can export everything at any time and delete your account yourself from Settings.

Full details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

FAQ

Can I log a single trade instead of a whole day?

Vienne is built around the trading day. If you want per-trade detail, describe it in the notes and keep the numbers at day level — the statistics assume one row per day.

Why is AI Analysis locked?

It needs an active license. Activate a key in Profile → License; journaling itself stays free of that requirement.

I changed computers and cannot log in.

A device can only be linked to one Vienne account. If a device is linked to the wrong account, contact support at truevienne@gmail.com and ask for the device link to be reset.

Does the AI see my API key or my journal?

The provider you pick receives the filtered journal summary directly from your browser. Vienne's server is not involved in that request and never stores your key.

How do I move my old journal in?

Use AI Convert in Settings → Data to turn any format into Vienne JSON, then Import it and confirm the preview.

Can I log one day to several accounts at once?

Yes — select multiple account chips in Log Trade and the entry is written to each of them.

AI Provider
Each provider keeps its own API key and model. Vienne can load the models available to your key automatically.
Stored locally in your browser and sent only to the selected provider's API.
Enter an API key to load models
Models are loaded directly from the provider using your key, so retired models disappear without a Vienne update.
Use this if a new or private model is not returned by the provider's model list.
Data
Backup of all accounts and entries. If your journal has screenshots you get a .zip containing journal.json plus the images as real files; without screenshots it is a single .json. Both import straight back. AI Convert gives you a ready-made prompt to copy into your own AI (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) alongside your raw export — paste the JSON it returns into Import, which reads a Vienne backup, a converted JSON file, or a .zip (with screenshots) and lets you preview and confirm before anything is saved.
